Bean Fast Day 7

I have a correction to something I said in today's video. In the video I said we had documented almost 20 children run over by cars in the FLDS community over the last 20 years. That was incorrect, and I'll attribute that mistake to my brain  function being so slow from a week of nothing but beans and water. I should have said that we have documented almost a dozen children who died this way in a 20 year period. The link to one of the documents below will show you the chart.

Don't miss today's big question at the end of the blog!
How dangerous is it to be a child inside the FLDS?

Welcome to Day 7 of the AAAP Bean Fast, which we have launched as a prayer and fasting project to stand in solidarity with the children of the FLDS. These children have been restricted to a diet consisting of beans and water for breakfast and dinner, for months now. This was done on the orders of their leader, Warren Steed Jeffs, who is serving a life sentence for the sexual assault of children here in Texas.

Thank you for watching our videos each day, participating in the bean fast, prayer and or contacting officials in the states of Utah and Arizona, and asking them to please do something to protect the children.

  1. Hi, I watched Bean fast day 7 and I have a couple of questions. I hope I am not offending anyone with this as this is not my intent. Why are 50% of their cemetery children? Is it because incest and birth malformation? The 20 kinds who were run over with a car were they boys? This is all so very sad praying for the children.

  2. Okay, first, I made a correction to what I said in the video... "I have a correction to something I said in today's video. In the video I said we had documented almost 20 children run over by cars in the FLDS community over the last 20 years. That was incorrect, and I'll attribute that mistake to my brain function being so slow from a week of nothing but beans and water. I know these stats backwards and forewords after 8 years in this battle, and all I can say is after 7 days of nothing but beans, I was half brain dead.

Okay, to answer your questions, yes, a good portion of that number are infant graves, which as you say has some significant correlation to the high incidences of birth defects and birth abnormalities, which are also driven higher by the intermarriage of close relatives. It is also a fact that giving birth at a young age, or an old age, raises the risks for something to go wrong with a baby.

However, that aside, the children of Short Creek are incredibly "accident prone," at almost any age.

No, there does not seem to be a difference between boys and girls.

I can only offer an educated guess on why this is so. I believe that when you have 4-5 adults in a home and 30 children, it is older children who end up taking the brunt of the child care duties. In other words, you have 12 year-olds responsible for watching the other children. We all know how well this works out as a plan for childcare, right?

If you go to Colorado City or Hildale, one of the first things you will notice is children hanging, like monkeys in large groups in the back of moving pick up trucks, or clinging to ATV's, also driven by children. We've even had observers in the past come back with shots of three or four boys on an ATV, while transporting a chain saw!

The "law enforcement," known as the "Town Marshals Office" in town is comprised of 100% FLDS members. These "law enforcement" officers are not there to enforce laws that protect children [such as the law preventing you from letting minors ride in the beds of pick up trucks] but to enforce the wishes of Warren Steed Jeffs and the other men in charge.

Thank you so much for your prayers. These kids need them!
